In this video, Claudia Schaff shares her journey in becoming a bilingual speech-language pathologist. She talked about some of the challenges she's had to face, how she finds it rewarding to work with individuals who speak other languages, how she developed her bilingual skills, and what motivated her to work with diverse linguistic communities. Throughout her story, she also provides encouragement for others who are interested in pursing a similar path in speech therapy, especially in bilingual or multilingual settings. This video is a really insightful source, especially for SLPs in the Tampa Bay area. Tampa is in need for bilingual clinicians, and this video might encourage others to want to work with more diverse populations and pick up the language, following Claudia's path (University of Oklahoma Health Campus, 2022).

In this video, Helen Vradelis, a bilingual speech-language pathologist, shares her experiences working with Spanish-speaking families through the company she works for, Solace Pediatric Healthcare. She talks about her struggle to switch between English and Spanish, since she primarily speaks English and only uses Spanish at work. She also stresses the importance for clinicians  understanding the different cultures and beliefs their clients may have, as well as communicating effectively and building trust with clients and their families while prioritizing their needs. Helen does a great job providing such knowledgeable information, which can help other SLPs who want to work with more diverse populations but are to scared to start. Tampa is a great place to get started on this journey, as it has a vast amount of English and Spanish speaking clients. You can start slowly by taking on one client at a time and seeing how you feel before committing to a schedule full of Spanish-speaking clients. Tampa doesn't need you to work only with the Hispanic community, but to be open to the opportunity if it presents itself and a client needs you (Solace Pediatric Healthcare, 2024).
